Welcome To The Bonaire WebCams!
This
Web site is the home of the a number of WebCams featuring the Caribbean island of Bonaire.
Bonaire
is a small Caribbean island located 80 miles (130 km) east
of Aruba and 50 miles (80 km) north of Venezuela. Bonaire
features the easiest scuba diving and snorkeling in the
Caribbean, thanks to the fringing reef which surrounds the
island, and allows for shore access over most of Bonaire's
leeward side.
If
you want to discuss or share what you've seen on the Bonaire WebCams,
the best place to do this is on BonaireTalk,
especially in the dedicated BonaireTalk
WebCams section.
Our
shopping section offers merchandise
and vendors we've selected specifically for visitors to
this site. Our first shopping area includes links to various
books, videos, and other educational
materials which will help Bonaire WebCams visitors learn
more about Bonaire, nature, diving, fish identification,
and perhaps even assembling a basic WebCam kit of their
own.
Learn
about us, get some technical
and historical information about the Bonaire WebCams
project, or check out our list of Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQ). Of course, we can't afford to
do this all for free, which is why there's an advertising
banner on each page - help support this Web site, and get
your message in front of thousands of visitors a month by
advertising on this site.
Finally,
our main business is the design and installation of customized
all-climate WebCam systems for Caribbean-based resorts,
hotels, and destinations. If you want to tease and tantalize
your potential and existing clients with a real-time peek
at what you have to offer, visit our main Caribbean
WebCams, LLC corporate site.
Bonaire
WebCams Updates
June 15, 2010 - Over the last couple of days, with the assistance of a number of BonaireTalkers, especially Martin de Weger, we managed to install three new cameras and replace another. Now live are the Bonaire Wreck ReefCam, as well as the HarborCam and YellowSub ReefCam, both at Dive Friends Bonaire's Yellow Submarine dive shop. That brings us to 14 Bonaire WebCams!
May 25, 2010 - And two more Bonaire WebCams are now live - both installed over a month ago, but we had to wait for the gardeners to trim some tree tops. Introducing the RooftopCam and the AirportCam.
May 12, 2010 - Hurrah! We have finally installed a new Bonaire Pier ReefCam! The new camera is located at Eden Beach under the pier.
April 9, 2010 - #2 - We have replaced the Bonaire WindsurfCam with a new unit while we try to see if the old one can be salvaged. The new camera is nice and sharp - what a difference.
April 9, 2010 - After heavy rains we appear to have gotten some water into the new StreetCam. Sealed up all possible leak points last night, and this morning stuck some desiccant in the camera body to suck up any remaining moisture. We will see tomorrow morning if that was effective.
April 6, 2010 - We replaced the camera housing at Bonaire Windsurf Place today. The old housing was still barely intact, but the mounting bracket had completely corroded away. The images are better now but we think salt has damaged the sensor on the camera, so we'll swap that out shortly.
April 4, 2010 - It appears the the "Download" option that appears under images for Bonaire WebCams members was not functional except for a couple of of the WebCams (the South BeachCam and the BeachBarCam). That has now been fixed and the "download" link now functions properly for all WebCam images (for members).
April 3, 2010 - Today we installed our new StreetCam in Belnem, south of the airport. It's located in front of Jake's house, and should provide a safe and accessible place for folks to pose for a WebCam snapshot. Separately, we replaced a flaky network switch at Eden Beach about 10 days ago which was causing the North BeachCam not to update properly. And next week we are planning on replacing the camera housing at Bonaire Windsurf Place so that we can once again see windsurfers on the WindsurfCam instead of a blur.
